Man charged with offences in Hayling Island

Following an investigation involving officers from the Operation Hawk team, CID, and the Hayling Island Neighbourhoods Policing Team, a man has been charged with a number of offences including burglary.
 
Liam Christopher Farrell, aged 35 years and of no fixed abode, has been charged with the following:
 
  • Burglary – reports of a man entering a house on Tournerbury Lane, Hayling Island, on the evening of Friday 3 July. The man left when challenged by the homeowner.
  • Burglary – between 8pm and 8.30pm on 3 July a house in Church Road, Hayling Island, was burgled. A mobile phone and a handbag were stolen, but the items were later located dumped in a hedge.
  • Shoplifting – between 6.30pm and 7.05pm on 3 July, food was stolen from Co-op on Elm Grove, Hayling Island.
  • Common assault – it’s alleged that a man became abusive and threatening to a member of staff at the Co-op on Elm Grove, Hayling Island, and threw food at him.

He was remanded in custody to appear at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court this morning (Monday 6 July).
