Speed Enforcement Operation - You said, we did!

Good evening from your Hilsea, Copnor, Drayton and Farlington ‘Beat Bobby’ PC Lamper,

This week we engaged with the local residents of the North of Portsmouth to introduce them to Hampshire Alerts and Let’s Talk. Feedback from this allowed us to better understand the ongoing issues that YOU the public are currently facing on a daily basis.

From this, it was highlighted that Ophir Road is subject to traffic related offences, one of which was speed related traffic offences which was raised as an issue due to Ophir Road being a 20mph speed limit road with many residential houses and a nursery school.

You said, we did!

Today, myself and a few of my colleagues in the North conducted a speed enforcement operation on Ophir Road. Police presence insured that drivers on this road were sticking to the set speed limits. Engagement with drivers allowed us to better educate the importance of road limits and safety.

I appreciate that speed enforcement can be a heated topic for some people, however speed limits are set to ensure the safety of all who use the road, including pedestrians and residents.

Over the coming weeks, Officers will be attending more residential roads to engage with more communities to identify what issues are affecting YOU, the public.

Whilst we were conducting this speed enforcement operation, we were made aware of roads that residents would like to see speed enforcement operations on. Speed enforcement will continue in hotspot areas in the North, if there are any specific areas you would like to make us aware of, please ensure that you let us know.
