YOU SAID, WE DID

YOU SAID, WE DID

We are often asked to try and “do something about the amount of Fly Tipping there is in the Forest”

So early on Monday morning of this week we joined forces with our partner across the New Forest and carried out spot check on vehicles driving in the New Forest in an effort to reduce fly-tipping and improve road safety.

We’ve been running these events for over two years and this week's was the first time that ALL of the vehicles stopped for carrying waste had the right licence to do so. We’d spoken to many of those we saw in earlier sessions and it’s really encouraging to see that the message about responsible waste disposal is having an impact.

In total, 88 different vehicles were checked this morning with 28 receiving tickets for offences including carrying insecure loads, no insurance or MOT, and driving without due care and attention. 7 drivers had illegal tyres on their vehicles and had to get them changed before they could continue their journey

Thanks to all of our partners who took part today including Forestry England, New Forest District Council, New Forest National Park, the Driver And Vehicle Standards Agency and the Roads Policing Team based at Totton.

As the nights draw in we will also be holding smaller operations deeper into the Forest where most the fly tipping takes place - so if you know of an area where you regularly see rubbish being dumped please let us know.

Many thanks

Richard
