Crime prevention advice following theft from motor vehicles in Havant and Waterlooville

We would like to remind you of some crime prevention advice after receiving five reports of attempted theft and one of actual theft from motor vehicles in recent days.

These incidents occurred in the following locations:

• Eagle Avenue, Waterlooville
• Woodpecker Close, Havant
• Southleigh Road, Havant
• Nightingale Park, Havant
• Bedhampton Hill, Havant
• Blenheim Gardens, Havant

The incidents occurred overnight between 6pm on Sunday 26 September and 4.30am yesterday morning (Tuesday 28 September):

• At 6.15am on Sunday 26 September, it was reported to us that a man had been seen trying a car door handle at an address on Blenheim Gardens. Nothing was taken.
• Between 6pm on Sunday 26 September and 9am on Monday 27 September the window of a car parked at the Premier Inn, Bedhampton Hill, was smashed and a large number of CDs were taken.
• At 1.30am on Monday 27 September a man was seen trying a car door handle on a driveway on Southleigh Road. Nothing was taken.
• At around 2.35am on Monday 27 September, it was reported to us a man had been seen attempting to break into vehicles parked on a driveway on Woodpecker Close. Nothing was taken.
• At 8.30pm on Monday 27 September a car was broken into at an address on Nightingale Park. Nothing was taken.
• Between midnight and 4.30am on Tuesday 28 September, the window of a vehicle parked on Eagle Avenue was smashed in an attempt to gain entry. Nothing was taken.

We are encouraging anyone who has been affected to report it to us so we can build up a bigger picture of the areas being targeted and when.

We would like to take this opportunity to remind motorists to make sure you remove valuables from your vehicle and lock it.

Make sure to physically check that doors and window are locked, especially if you have used the remote to lock the vehicle, then look inside again to make sure you’ve not left anything.
