Blue Ropes and Buckets

Alert message sent 20/08/2020 16:44:00

Information sent on behalf of Hampshire Constabulary

Good Afternoon,

Many Thanks for the replies to my previous alert regarding the Blue Ropes & Buckets that have been found in and around Andover.

I thought i would give you a quick update in relation to my previous message.

I have received the following email from TVBC:

Right the buckets in trees are part of a project to look for Oak precessionary moth throughout the test valley on TVBC land, they are essentially pheromone traps which attract the males . they are up for a period of time and then take down to see if they are in the area.

So this is nothing to worry about for the public this is just to conduct a survey as there have been an increase in cases in the London area and they are potentially on the move.

Hope this helps

Many thanks

I still see these ropes as a hazard to members of the public especially to children, and seeing as it is the School Holidays there are going to be lots out and about playing.

I will be out and about in the areas that some of you have mentioned in replies to me and i will give suitable advice to anyone seen being irresponsible with the ropes.

Many Thanks.
