Habitual thief banned from Fareham for 9 months

Habitual thief James Vincent Durber has been banned from Fareham for 9 months.

The 36-year-old, of no fixed abode, was arrested on 26 June in connection with a number of incidents in the Fareham area for which he was subsequently charged.

On 29 June, he pleaded guilty to the following at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court:
  • Stealing £84 worth of fragrances from Boots at Westbury Mall on 19 June.
  • Stealing £212 worth of fragrances from Boots at Westbury Mall on 21 June.
  • Stealing a bicycle worth £250 from West Street on 21 June.
  • Criminal damage – damaged a CCTV camera in Windermere Avenue on 22 June.
Appearing at the same court yesterday (29 July), he was handed a 9 month community order with a 10 day rehabilitation activity requirement, a 9 month exclusion order whereby he must not enter the borough of Fareham, and he was ordered to pay £200 compensation to the owner of the stolen bike.
