Motorbike thefts in Millbrook and Shirley areas

Alert message sent 17/03/2020 12:08:00

Information sent on behalf of Hampshire Constabulary

Good morning,

You may be aware that there have recently been a number of motorcycle
thefts in your area.

The purpose of this email is not to frighten you but to raise your awareness and ask you to be
extra vigilant.

To help combat motorcycle thefts and anti social behaviour we need:
  • Detailed descriptions of bikes and riders.
  • Where the bikes are kept- locks ups, garages etc
  • Names if possible
If you are a motorcycle owner there are certain measures you can take to reduce the likelihood of becoming a victim yourself, such as:
• If possible park your motorcycle in a busy area or car park. If you have a garage, use it.
• Fit an alarm, immobiliser or tracker device if there is not a factory device already installed.
• Use a Sold Secure lock and chain, and anchor them to a permanent fixture if possible.
Brake-disc locks also help secure your motorcycle.
• Mark your postcode on the fairing panels and any parts which can easily be removed.
• Do not leave your helmet or jacket with the motorcycle and don’t forget to remove the ignition key.

Kind regards

Southampton West Neighbourhood Policing Team

Report suspicious activity to the police on 101 or anonymously via the Crimestoppers
charity on 0800 555 111.
