North Beat Update

Alert message sent 11/03/2020 14:43:00

Information sent on behalf of Hampshire Constabulary

Good Afternoon.

I hope all of you are doing well. It’s that time again for your update with regards to what’s been happening in POPLEY and OAKRIDGE and the surrounding areas.

Since my last update we have had a small number of robberies, I would advise that if you are out in the evening try to walk with other is possible, stick to well-lit areas and not show any expensive items, such as mobile phones or Air pods if possible.

There has been a few burglaries in the last 4 weeks, most of these have been outbuildings such as garages or sheds. However there has been some dwelling burglaries so please ensure that you keep all windows and doors locked and where you can leave no valuables on show.

Place all tools and garden equipment in locked sheds and garages.

Secure more expensive items, e.g. mowers, bikes to an anchor point within the shed or garage.

Mark all items with postcode and record serial numbers. E.g. UV pens or forensic marking kits. Register the details for free on www.immobilise.com

Take photographs of items such as statues and garden furniture if they are unusual, for easy identification at a later date.

Fit a shed alarm.

Keep the structure in good repair.

Consider covering windows with curtains to obscure the view of the contents.

Consider external lighting.

Ensure the garden fences are in good repair between neighbours to prevent unlawful access.

Ensure side gates are locked to prevent access to the rear of the property.

I am aware of the issues that have started of people riding Motorized vehicles along public footpaths. I will keep an eye out for this happening.

There has been a small amount of people reporting that they have woken up to their vehicle being damaged by unknown people overnight. I would encourage to make sure that you park your car in well-lit areas to deter the offenders from targeting your vehicles.

Wish you all well

Brad
