Communication to all registered members of Puttenham and Warbleton Neighbourhood Watch

Alert message sent 27/12/2019 12:09:00

Information sent on behalf of Neighbourhood Watch

Dear Neighbourhood Watch Scheme Members.

I am writing to you in my capacity as Area Coordinator for Chineham. First may I wish you all a Happy New Year for 2020.

In 2019, several Neighbourhood Watch Schemes in Chineham lost their coordinator. This was mostly because the coordinator moved away from the area and was unable to find a volunteer to undertake the role of coordinator. This was the case in Puttenham and Warbleton Roads. John Dick has moved away and was removed from the Neighbourhood Alert system by the system administrators at his own request. John was unable to find a volunteer to replace him. Also, it is a requirement that any volunteer to become a Neighbourhood Watch Coordinator or deputy must undergo a police check carried out by Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary. It is not simply a case of an existing resident member taking up the role of coordinator.
This situation is not unique and to address the problem of missing coordinators for schemes, several areas of Basingstoke have established an area Neighbourhood Watch Scheme with an Area coordinator to manage the area scheme.

In Chineham, we have followed that route and an Area Scheme has been established with myself as the Area Coordinator.

I am writing to you all as registered members of the Neighbourhood Watch Scheme for Puttenham and Warbleton Roads to have your Neighbourhood Watch scheme membership transferred to the new Chineham Parish Scheme. There will be no impact on how Neighbourhood Alert interacts with you. You will continue to receive communications from Neighbourhood Alert as before. Any communication that you received via email from John Dick in the past will now come from me. I will maintain a list of registered members in Puttenham and Warbleton Roads within the secure Alert system so that where there is information that is specific to your street and residents, it can be communicated to you as in the past. All communications will come through the Secure Alert system and your information will not be available to me on my own computer.

Should you not wish this to happen and wish to remain registered to the existing street scheme for Puttenham and Warbleton Roads, you must let me know as soon as possible and not later than 9th January 2020. If you decide to transfer to the Chineham Parish based scheme you need take no action.

My Best Regards
Malcolm Wells
Chineham Neighbourhood Watch
Area Coordinator
