Information sent on behalf of Hampshire Constabulary

Good Afternoon
It’s been a while since my last update, apologies for that.
Over the last 3 weeks or so we have seen a decrease in theft from motor vehicles with only 4 reported in the Popley and Oakridge areas, The main way people enter vehicles at night by trying door handles to see if they have been left unlocked.
They has been 7 instances of Burglaries reported to us, 2 have been garage breaks, 3 have been dwelling burglaries, where the backdoors has been either smashed or Forced open and untidy searches had been completed. Coming up to the festive period please keep all valuables out of sight and if needed keep a light on when not at home, this could help deter people from targeting your house and keep you and your possessions safe.
There has been a few reports of windows being smashed around the area, some have been residential properties but there also had been a community centre’s windows smashed.
Finally I would like to wish you a Merry Christmas and a happy New Year from the Basingstoke Town Neighbourhood policing Team.
