Theft from Motor vehicles

Alert message sent 24/09/2019 09:11:00

Information sent on behalf of Hampshire Constabulary

Dear residents,

Over the weekend there have been a spate of theft from vehicles reported to us.  These have occurred in Old Basing, Chineham and Lychpit.

Vehicles have not been damaged and in many cases method of entry is unknown. However a number of vehicles were not securely locked.

These theft from vehicles would appear to be opportunist.
The best way to prevent your vehicle being targeted is not to leave anything on display – not even loose change.  Secondly, remove valuables and other items from your vehicle.  Thirdly, make sure if you lock your vehicle with a fob to then physically check that the doors are locked.
Please check your CCTV and dash cams for any suspicious activity and report to police on 101.
Thank you.
