Man appears in court following series of thefts from Southampton Co-op

Good morning everyone,

We just wanted to update you that a man has been charged with a number of shoplifting offences following an incident at a Co-op in Southampton.

Police were called to the store on Bridge Road on Saturday (6 April) at 2.23am following reports of a break-in.

It was reported that entry had been forced to the store and alcohol and electronic cigarettes were taken.

Officers attended and arrested a man, who has now been charged in connection with this incident and three others at the same store. On March 22nd, 26th and 30th, confectionary to the value of £250 was taken from the shop.

Zachary Charles Lowe, 36, of no fixed abode, has been charged with one count of burglary and three counts of theft from a shop. He has also been charged with failing/refusing to provide a sample for Class A drugs testing.

Lowe appeared at Southampton Magistrates’ Court yesterday (Monday 8 April), where he was remanded into custody. He is next due to appear at the same court on Monday 29 April.
